VISION & MISSION STATEMENTS

VISION STATEMENT

We, as members of the Pastoral Council, are elected to assist the Parish Priest to serve the Parish and endeavour to make it's life and actions evermore closely conform to the Gospel by:

  • Using our talents to enhance the pastoral and spiritual growth of our community.
  • Identify challenges and possibilities in the community and work to effect them.
  • Working with our clergy and parishioners to achieve satisfactory outcomes to perceived needs of the Parish.
  • Seeking innovative ideas for consideration of their usefulness to our parish.
  • Maintaining an overview of the Parish as part of Broken Bay Diocese and part of the Willoughby community.

MISSION STATEMENT

Inspired by our namesake, St Thomas, we seek to understand and celebrate the gift of the Incarnation, so that we, too, respond fervently, "my Lord and my God"! Like Thomas we will grow by:

Spiritual
Our participation in the worship, praise, gratitude and nourishment of the Eucharist as the central axis of our communal life.

Charism
a) Sharing compassion for others with the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, aspiring to exemplify in our lives the living Word of God, which expresses the treasures of faith of our Baptism.

b) Welcoming all and accepting them as embodying the Christ, without reserve or prejudice and sensitive to their situation.

Liturgy
a) Seeking to celebrate liturgies that are spiritually meaningful and uplifting, healing and relevant for different ages and stages of life.

b) Providing opportunities for parishioners to experience spiritual and personal growth through information, prayer and study programs.

Youth
Accepting the searching of our young people and providing resources, whilst we seek to develop strategies that connect with them and provide opportunities in which their spiritual growth may develop.

Outreach
Being outward-looking, recognising needs which occur within our community and beyond and ready to offer appropriate assistance, personally or via the various programs in the parish, with due sensitivity to the requirements of privacy.

Diocese
Rejoicing in the affirmation of sharing in the Catholic Church of Broken Bay Diocese, and by the inspiration to share in it's outreach to other faiths and healing endeavours, as we contribute to the welfare of others according to their need.

TO BE ON EARTH THE HEART OF GOD
