VISION & MISSION STATEMENTS

VISION STATEMENT

We, the Pastoral Council of the Parish of St Thomas the Apostle, Willoughby, envision ourselves to be:

  • Working in collaboration with the Parish Priest, to serve the spiritual and physical needs of our Parish.
  • Promoting a welcoming Eucharistic Community where parishioners feel they belong.  This involves an outreach mission to those who do not worship on Sundays.
  • A communicating voice to the Parish Priest addressing the needs of all sectors of our parish community.  To implement, through action, the evangelisation of the life of Christ, to let everyone in this parish know that they belong here and are very much needed.

MISSION STATEMENT

Spiritual Growth - to be led by the Spirit as a Community in order to grow in our faith relationship with the Father and the Son.

Evangelisation - to proclaim the Word of God by word and example.

Growth of Parish/Welcome - to foster warmth and belonging in our community where people feel welcomed and needed.

Enhancing Liturgy - to endeavour to make the liturgy more meaningful, joyful and vibrant.

Supporting Practical Initiatives - to explore what initiatives are necessary to promote community bonding and to continue to be open to change.

Close Relationship between Parish & School - to strengthen the bond we have between Parish and School through mutual support, respect, communication and sharing in each others' activities.

Anticipate Future Needs -  to observe and listen to what is happening in our community in terms of current and future needs and to respond accordingly.

Youth - to develop strategies that reach out to the youth in our Parish, in order to meet their spiritual and social needs.
